The Boyfriend Shirt
Fall has arrived!!!! (Or so we're told ... in Texas we're still waiting)
One of my favorite trends for fall is the boyfriend shirt (oversized) apart from the obvious that this look is probably the most comfortable one ever, it can be worn and styled many ways, and are also perfect for these transition months when one day its still 95 (35C) and the next it drops 20 degrees. Three of my favorite ways to style it!
1. - With skinny jeans and killer heals, because the shirt has mostly no shape, pairing it with these will make it look like there’s still someone under there (in my opinion making it cute and stylish) - And to be honest, whoever invented the "No white after labor day" never spent fall in Texas! white is still a must, plus who doesnt love an all white winter look,
2. - As a dress or over a cute skirt or shorts: if your boyfriend shirt is long enough to be worn as a dress? Go for it!!!! Maybe, with a cute pair of flat over the knee boots. If not with a short skirt or shorts under just to avoid any wardrobe malfunction. Also cute with boots or if the weather is still not cooperating (ehmm Texas) classic nude stilettos or pumps (booties too) In this case I wore a flannel shirt, actually thought this would be more of a dress, and when I wore it at home it was just a bit too short, but pairing it with a skirt under gave it a cute detail and avoided any accidental slip-ups.
3. - The boyfriend look: since we’re already playing with the “boyfriend” look why not step it up a bit. - Ripped jeans and menswear inspired Rebecca Minkoff shoes. I think these babies need their own time to shine, literally they are SHINY! And have a bit of a platform so for us “not-that tall” gals it’s the perfect way to wear flats, and not feel that short, I mean a couple more inches never hurt anybody. Since this look is a bit more “manly” a girly bag is a good idea! I love this look but I was a bit unsure if it would look stylish or make me look like a 12 year old boy... In the end its all about the accesorries and how you style it that can make or break a look. This is the same shirt as look 1. Quick tip if you can't find a good "boyfriend" shirt. Grab an larger sized one. That's what I did found an XL of a basic white shirt at GAP. it is perfect!! it still has abit of a woman's shape but I get the oversized look I wanted.
