Trip Highlights

Teotihuacan, Mexico.

Need To Know: The ancient city of Teotihuacan was home to many of the early civilizations in Mexico. It is definitely one of the must-sees when visiting this city.

  • Teotihuacan is outside Mexico City, about an hour and a half to two-hour drive, depending where you're staying, so you will need to hire some kind of car service, most hotels will help you book a tour or find you a car.

  • It is a lot and I mean a lot of walking and climbing (a few miles just to get to the main pyramids) I am not sure what the handicap features are like, but it is very hard to facilitate looking at the terrain.

  • I am not exaggerating if you have a heart or breathing condition, think twice before climbing up the Pyramid of the Sun. It's not just only how many steps you need to climb to get to the top (64meters- 208 feet) but also the altitude of Mexico City, (it's one of the highest elevated cities in the world) so breathing can be a bit harder for everybody, especially if you're not used to it.

  • Wear comfortable shoes! And don't forget your sunglasses and a hat. Avoid if it’s raining. Also if you can avoid carrying a bag or purse do so, if you're like me you'll get tired of having to climb and walk while carrying extra weight (if not choose one that is light and will not get in your way)

  • Take some cash with you. There are many souvenir shops.

  • Don't forget your camera (phone)! It is amazing!!!
