Mother's Day
Hi again loves!
So today we’re gearing up for Mother’s day! When we say mother for a lot of us that may mean more than one amazing woman in our life and for many it may not necessarily have to be an actual mother but a grandmother, aunt, friend, dad, or anyone. I am very lucky to have the best mom in the world (yes, we probably all say that lol) but I also have an amazing grandmother who has been with me through it all as well (just like my mom) including handing us our wedding bands at our wedding (with my grandfather, they just celebrated their 67th anniversary) And one thing that always brings back all those amazing memories; is scent! My grandmother has used Chanel no.5 for years and I just associate her with that for so long! Even when walking through a fragrance department and suddenly that scent hits you “Mom”
My mom has switched around a bit more, since my dad loves perfumes and would try to gift her a new one every now and then, but I still remember the perfume she was wearing the day they came back from a month-long trip; Dior Poison! Omg every time I smell it takes me back to waiting at home with my grandparents for them to come home, yep the princess Jasmin pjs and all. It’s amazing how a scent, something so “small” can have such a strong reaction for many of us. Some memories may not be as sweet and others can be the best, like my mom wearing flower bomb by Viktor & Rolf, on my wedding day. She’s been a fan of this perfume since the original came out, it was actually my sister in law who introduced it to her (she used to wear it and my mom would always compliment her on it) after that it’s been one of her regulars for years, so this Mother’s day I was so excited to get her one of her favorites but, I also didn’t want it to be the same (although sometimes that’s the best gift) that’s when I heard the newest version of Flower Bomb had arrived at Sephora; Flower Bomb Midnight. I figured it would be a great gift to get her a different version of something I know she already loves. Personally, I’m loving this version even more … I think it’s fresher and fruitier than the regular Flower Bomb … fresh and fruity is SO me! I may have to copy it for myself later lol.
Although gifting perfumes to someone we know so well is a bit easier, finding a perfect scent for anyone can be very tricky, scents can be very personal, which is why buying fragrances for someone else or even a new one for yourself is a lot easier at Sephora, they have their Sephora Fragrance Finder online and in store. Which is so cool and if you love online quizzes, it’s actually pretty fun, you can base it on personality or if you know this person (yourself) well you can base it on their previous scents ( I actually tested it and my current perfume was the first one to pop-up as suggested ) and of course they have something for everyone and every budget, and if you really can’t make up your mind they even have the Mini Fragrances box set … so they can try more than one.

Ahora nos estamos preparando para el día de las madres, que sin importar quién es tu figura materna más importante en tu vida, ya sea mama, abuela, tía, amiga, hermana o hasta papa. Nuestra “mama” es de las personas más importantes en nuestras vidas, quien ha estado en las buenas y en las malas. Yo tuve la suerte, no solo de tener a la mejor mama del mundo (jajá todos decimos eso no … pero en serio) también tengo una súper abuela que ha estado con nosotros en todo, hasta ser padrinos de anillos (con mi abuelo, que acaban de cumplir 67 años de casados) Algo que tienen en común mi mama y mi abuela (madre e hija) es que las dos han tenido fragancias muy específicas a lo largo de sus vidas que para mí se convirtieron en identificadores, no solo de ellas si no de momentos especiales en mi vida, algunos muy importantes otros solo recuerdos que me da gusto aunque no sean nada wow. Mi abuela ha usado un clásico toda la vida y cada vez que me llega ese olor (hasta en una tienda) pienso en ella. Mi mama ha tenido varias fragancias pero casi siempre las rota y todas me recuerdan a ella, a la fecha me acuerdo exactamente el perfume que usaba cuando tenía 8-10 años; en esa época mis papas viajaban mucho y en específico me acuerdo un viaje súper largo, mi hermano y yo nos quedamos con mis abuelos pero cada vez que huelo ese perfume me acuerdo del día que regresaron de ese viaje, el estarlos esperando en la casa con mis abuelos, y que cuando llegaron abrace a mi mama y era su aroma … ¡Me acuerdo de todo! Hasta mi pijama de Jazmín (de Aladdin) que traía ese día, es increíble como algo tan “pequeño” puede tener un efecto tan grande.
Algunos recuerdos son así, algo no tan importante pero bonito o a lo mejor hay olores que nos recuerdan a algo no tan bonito, o nos recuerdan a uno de los días más importantes de nuestra vida como mi mama usando Flower Bomb de Viktor & Rolf el día de mi boda. Un perfume que mi mama ha usado ya por años, de hecho, se la introdujo mi cuñada. Por esto me emocione tanto con esta colaboración, porque para mí las fragancias me recuerdan a tanto y también sé que es un regalo ideal, y luego me entera que acaba de llegar a Sephora la nueva versión de Flower Bomb, Flower Bomb Midnight, se me hizo súper buena opción para mi mama, ¡una versión un poquito diferente de algo que ya conoce y le encanta!
Doy gracias que conozco bien el gusto y los aromas de mi mama, pero sé que comprar fragancias para alguien puede ser un poco complicado, este tipo de aroma es muy personal y de gustos, hay gente que nunca cambia su perfume en toda su vida (mi papa jajá … pero me encanta) y gente que varía como mi mama, pero tiene gusto especifico. Lo bueno es que Sephora tiene su cuestionario “Fragance Finder” es un cuestionario súper corto y fácil, disponible en tienda o en línea, ¡que te ayuda a encontrar la fragancia ideal para alguien más o hasta para ti! De hecho, la probé para mí y la primera sugerencia que me dio es mi perfume que llevo usando por años jajá ósea que le atino perfecto. Y claro ya saben que Sephora tiene fragancias para todo presupuesto, y también las opciones minis para los casos más difíciles.
